Peng Pood Ceremony at Wat Suan Dok

Peng Pood, or midnight alms giving is the ancient Lanna tradition. The event takes place on full moon which falls on Wednesday. It is believed that in the past Phra Upakut, an enlightened monk, who had supernatural powers to fight monsters, would transfigure into a child monk to bless people before dawn. Offering alms to this child monk was supposed to bring you good luck.
