Tsunami Buddha

“This wooden image was found when it was washed off to the eastern shore during tsunami event in 2004. The right hand of the image depicts the abhaya mudra and the rest of image including the upper part, left hand and the lower part are badly damaged. The style of the statue could not be identified due to this reason. However the arrangement of the fleets of the robe of the image suggests that it could be a production of Indonesia or Myanmar. The date of ih image is uncertain.”
